His research focuses on developing innovative ways to protect biodiversity in North America, Southeast Asia, East Africa, and other regions—blending ecology and public policy. He is the author of numerous publications dealing with the conservation of biological diversity, endangered species, ornithology, island biogeography, and conservation policy.
